The International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) has joined forces with The Shipowners’ Club to create ‘ISWAN for Seafarers’, a free mobile app which offers a direct line to ISWANs 24-hour helplines and offline access to resources for seafarers.
The ISWAN for Seafarers app offers:
Instant access to ISWAN’s free, confidential, multilingual helplines SeafarerHelp (for all seafarers and their families) and Yacht Crew Help (for professional yacht crew) – both helplines are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for any seafarer who has a problem on board, a request for general information or simply needs to talk to someone after a tough day
Useful information and resources specifically for seafarers, including ISWAN’s Good Mental Health Guides and other self-help health materials
Guidance on topics such as contract issues, abandonment, and bullying and harassment
Access to ISWAN’s Seafarer Centre Directory so seafarers can look up their nearest welfare facilities in port
News and articles on seafarers’ welfare-related topics via a blog, which can be updated when an internet connection is available
ISWAN is an international maritime charity working to improve the lives of seafarers and their families with services, resources, strategies and advocacy. The Shipowners’ Club is a mutual marine liability insurer, providing Protection and Indemnity insurance for small and specialist vessels since 1855.
